The impact of Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development on Damovo and our clients
The World Business Council for Sustainable Development urges business and service providers to work not just for short-term financial gain, but also with long term goals in mind. The pressures of the every day grind can, at times, make this aim seem unrealistic and out of touch with today’s working world. However, the benefit of working to balance the needs of the present with the unforeseen demands of the future is, in many cases, as manageable as it is prudent.
When Bromley Hospital NHS Trust looked to install a new voice and data network in 2001, its main priority was to lay down a network that had the capacity and technical functionality to deal with its current demands, added requirements such as Picture Archiving Communications System (PACS) and any future wireless applications it may need. Damovo UK worked with the Trust to install a solution that, rather than having stagnant benefits, would help the Trust to reduce long term IT and telephony costs and continue to find and add new applications to improve patient care today.
For Damovo UK, working with its clients to ensure Sustainable Development is an integral part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy. CSR is about much more than just recycling and switching off monitors out of hours, it is about considering and working to protect the main interests of customers, employees, shareholders and local communities. Businesses must work to improve the quality of life for employees and their families.
South Kesteven District Council recently worked with Damovo UK to install an IP based communications solution comprising a Mitel 3300 IP voice platform and Extreme Networks data network as part of the creation of a dedicated customer service centre. This move has allowed the Council to deal more quickly and effectively with enquiries from the citizens it serves. Next it will look to explore the benefits of home and remote working that the solution can now accommodate.
The ability to cut costs in the long term, future proof ICT and offer flexible working has a huge impact on financial performance, meeting customer needs and ensuring employee satisfaction and productivity.
UK citizens increasingly see Corporate Social Responsibility as core to the identity of a business and to society, today and tomorrow. As such, CSR and Sustainable Development practices are now key to attracting and retaining top talent and securing investment. Proper adherence to socially responsible principles will allow businesses to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs and as such is a vital ingredient to future ICT decisions.
